Marielle Machacek, M.A.
Marielle’s research focus generally is social cognition based, mainly focusing on attitudes. One program of research is examining how people deal with conflict among moral attitudes and opinions as influenced by their political affiliation/ideology. Another program of research is examining attitude formation (e.g., attitude strength and certainty), attitude maintenance (e.g., strategies utilized during resistance to persuasion) and how attitudes influence health behaviors (e.g., sexual health, interactions with people with positive sexual health disease status).
